Harmony in History
The Ringling Social Club's new tune in White Sulphur Springs.
White Sulphur Springs has become a hub for local music and performance in the past few years. From the Red Ants Pants Music Festival to events by the Meagher County Arts Council, there are a multitude of opportunities for residents to enjoy small-scale artists and music in the rural area. This Thursday, a new business is bringing more musical entertainment to the scene. The Ringling Social Club and Boarding House is a new business in the area. However, the building where the establishment is housed has a long-standing history within the county. The Ringling Mansion, located at 902 West Main Street in White Sulphur Springs, was once home to numerous families and the notable author, Ivan Doig. Presently, the Ringling Mansion serves as home to Sarah Calhoun, producer of the annual Red Ants Pants Music Festival. Although a permanent home to some, the Ringling Mansion also now serves as a communal gathering place. Closely connected to the Red Ants Pants Foundation and its programs, the Ringling Social Club and Boarding House are where retreats, writing residencies, and other similar events are held. The Ringling Social Club and Boarding House are now extending its outreach to become a place for songwriter retreats and, most presently, it has begun hosting concerts. This evening (Thursday, May 16), the Ringling Social Club and Boarding House is hosting a small community concert featuring three artists. The doors to the event open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert has a suggested $10 donation that goes directly to the three performers. At 7:00 p.m., the small-scale show will begin with Marcedes Carrol, a country folk singer-songwriter. Following her performance, at approximately 7:40 p.m., Lena Marie Schiffer and Ani Casabonne will give their own blended performance as a duet, combining their talents for a unique, country folk blend. At 8:15, all three artists will come together to perform a collaborative mix. The Ringling Social Club and Boarding House serves as a multifunctional venue within White Sulphur Springs. It offers a variety of events and activities that cater to different interests, including songwriter retreats and musical performances. The utilization of the historical Ringling Mansion for such events contributes to the cultural offerings available to the community. As it continues to host a diverse range of events, the Ringling Social Club and Boarding House is set to become an integral part of the area's social and cultural scene.
