Leadership47 Kicks Off

Fostering Growth and Community Engagement in Meagher County

The Montana State University Extension of Meagher County has launched its Leadership47 program, officially kicking off on September 9th in Martinsdale, Montana. This initiative is part of the broader Big Sky, Big Leadership initiative, aiming to cultivate a new generation of effective leaders in rural communities throughout the region. With a focus on skill development, community engagement, and personal growth, Leadership47 is designed to empower participants to take on leadership roles within their communities and address local issues effectively.

This year's group is comprised of 21 enthusiastic participants who are eager to enhance their leadership skills, strengthen relationships within the community, and deepen their understanding of Meagher County. Over the course of the program, participants will engage in a variety of activities and workshops aimed at promoting strategic thinking, effective communication, and collaborative problem-solving.

During the inaugural session in Martinsdale, participants explored key topics such as core values and emotional intelligence—essential components of effective leadership. The day was enriched by a delightful lunch at Prairie Smoke Cafe, where participants had the chance to connect and share insights in a relaxed setting. Following lunch, the group visited the Bair Museum, which showcases the rich history and culture of the region, and Delpine Farms, where they gained firsthand experience of local agricultural practices.

Looking ahead, participants are eagerly anticipating their second gathering on October 21st in Ringling. Each session will focus on different aspects of leadership and community engagement, providing opportunities for interactive activities and discussions designed to foster collaboration among participants. The program will span several months, culminating in a series of sessions that will equip participants with valuable skills applicable to their personal and professional lives.

The Leadership47 program stands as a significant asset for the rural area of Meagher County as it addresses the unique challenges and opportunities faced by its residents. By fostering leadership skills among participants, the program equips individuals with the tools necessary to navigate the complexities of rural life and drive positive change within their communities. As leaders emerge from this program, they will not only enhance their personal and professional capabilities but also contribute to the social and economic development of the region.
