White Sulphur Springs Parks

White Sulphur Springs is home to several parks that serve visitors as rest stops and provide locals with recreational areas for youth and venues for group activities. Over the past year, significant improvements have been made to these parks through initiatives such as the Parks Advisory Committee’s Adopt-A-Spot program and the City of White Sulphur Springs’ successful application for a T-Mobile Hometown Grant.

This fall, renovations began on the beloved Springs Park, located in the heart of White Sulphur Springs. Funds from the $50,000 T-Mobile Grant, along with contributions from the local Race for This Place organization, will be used to purchase new playground equipment, replacing some structures that have been in use since the 1960s. Additionally, the upgrades will include ADA-accessible parking and improvements to the Rotary Picnic Shelter.

While these enhancements to Springs Park are a significant step towards improving current White Sulphur Springs infrastructure, several other recreational areas in the city may still need attention. To gather input on where resources should be directed, the City of White Sulphur Springs is inviting all residents to participate in an ongoing Recreation Master Plan Survey.

Designed by the City, the survey seeks public input to create a comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan. This plan will serve as a guide for addressing challenges and identifying opportunities for growth in local Parks and Recreation development. Survey questions will include topics such as desired improvements, additions, or developments within the community, as well as space for additional comments related to Parks and Recreation.

The survey is open through December 13, 2024. According to the City, it takes less than five minutes to complete, responses are anonymous, and the input will directly influence future improvements.
