Getting into full gear for the season

The White Sulphur Springs Hornets kicked off their season with a mix of challenges and triumphs, splitting matches with Big Sandy, struggling against Melstone, and eventually finding their stride against Harlowton. While the start wasn't as smooth as hoped, the Hornets demonstrated resilience and determination, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
In their first matchup against Big Sandy, the Hornets faced a tough "new-to-us" offense that tested their communication and on-court coordination. Despite some sluggish transitions and positioning issues, the team showed promise in the second set, rallying to a 21-14 victory after a narrow 19-21 loss in the first set. This strong finish highlighted the team's potential and their ability to bounce back under pressure.

Despite switching back to a more familiar offense, the team couldn't find their groove, leading to a tough defeat with scores of 9-21 and 6-21.
However, the Hornets showed their true character in their final match against Harlowton. After regrouping and refocusing, the team played closer to their potential, splitting the match with a 13-21 loss and a hard-fought 21-18 victory. This performance showcased the team's ability to learn from their experiences and improve as the season progresses.

Coach Marteen Taylor remains optimistic despite the early setbacks, stating, "It wasn't the start we were hoping for, but now we know what we need to focus on, and sometimes it's good to be humbled right off the bat. We are looking forward to Belt and Gardiner this weekend. Both teams looked extremely tough at the Belt Tournament and will both be formidable opponents. Looking forward to the challenge."
As the Hornets prepare for their upcoming matches, they do so with the knowledge that the season is still young and full of opportunities. With the team's talent and determination, there's no doubt they'll continue to grow stronger and rise to the challenges ahead.
