Red Ants Pants Festival Around the Corner

As the end of July nears, the county gears up for the annual music festival.

The Red Ants Pants Music Festival has been a reoccurring hit in the small town of White Sulphur Springs, Montana since it was first put into action in 2011. The event draws several thousand people to the small community and not only supports the Red Ants Pants Foundation, but also White Sulphur Spring’s other business as well. Sarah Calhoun, owner of Red Ants Pants, is the producer of the festival. The proceeds from the festival support the Red Ants Pants’ Girls Leadership Program, timber skills workshops, and the community grants provided by the Red Ants Pants Foundation. The Red Ants Pants Music Festival has had big names play on the main stage in years prior. These include Lyle Lovett and His Large Band, Dwight Yoakam, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Merle Haggard. This year’s headliner is Tanya Tucker, a country music singer and songwriter. One of Tanya Tucker’s most famous hits is Delta Dawn, which she released at the young age of 13 in 1972. Tanya will be taking the stage on the last day of the festival (July 30) at 4:30 pm. The dynamic festival also brings more than just musical entertainment. The festival is full of wonderful vendors, including delicious food and interesting goods. There will also be several workshops available during the day at the festival. These feature topics such as Trailer Backing 101, Horses and Healing, and Horseshoeing 101 that will all be showcased in the designated demo area in the festival grounds. The campground opens on July 27th at 11 am. There will be a shuttle running from the grounds into White Sulphur Springs periodically throughout the weekend. On Thursday, visitors are encouraged to attend the local Farmer’s Market, Beer & Book reading at 2 Basset Brewery, and the free street dance that will be happening downtown. The festival grounds officially open at 3 pm on July 28th.
