Checkerboard Bar and Inn Celebrates 60th Annual Pig Roast

Meagher County has no shortage of places to eat. While White Sulphur Springs offers a variety of establishments to choose from, individuals should not overlook the smaller rural towns surrounding the county seat. Next week, the Checkerboard Bar and Inn MT will host a celebratory pig roast with a major milestone backing it. The 60th Annual Pig Roast will be held in Checkerboard next Saturday, July 13. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., the time-honored tradition of the pig roast and the coinciding potluck dinner will commence. The roast, a Meagher County summer tradition, serves as a connection to the larger county seat of White Sulphur Springs. With food acting as a pathway for connection within the community, the Checkerboard Bar is set to hold an event sure to boost local morale and attract visitors to the rural establishment. Following the fanfare over home-cooked food, the Checkerboard Bar will host live music, a popular pastime for Meagher County weekends. Starting at 7:00 p.m., the bar will feature two acts: Layloni Ghee and Big Sky Overdrive, who will serenade the Checkerboard crowd and provide entertainment for the night alongside the socializing. The 60th Annual Checkerboard Bar and Inn’s Pig Roast and Potluck is set to be a summer highlight for the small town. Sponsored by Farm Bureau Financial Services, the community event to be held on Saturday, July 13, will feature drinks, music, and pork, marking an occasion of entertainment and sustenance for visitors and locals alike.
