Next week, White Sulphur Springs will be buzzing with activities for residents and visitors alike to enjoy. With the Fourth of July landing on a Thursday, patriotic events will be offered all week long for residents of all ages to enjoy. The Meagher County Community Center is a local hub for community information, education, and senior support. From informational sessions to hosting themed dinners for all residents, the community center works year-round to provide activities that foster communal engagement. The center also works closely with veterans and hosts several events throughout the year to support organizations such as the Meagher County American Legion Post & Unit 25. On Tuesday, July 2nd, the Meagher County Community Center will host a barbecue-themed ‘Celebrating Our Veterans’ Luncheon. Beginning at noon, all veterans and their spouses are invited to dine for free in recognition of their service to the United States. At the lunch, American classics such as burgers, baked beans, and coleslaw will be served, as well as apple pie as a dessert. The Meagher County Community Center’s barbecue, hosted in appreciation for those who have served, stands as a patriotic kickoff to the Fourth of July week. With numerous upcoming events such as the Bank of the Rockies’ Annual Fourth of July Parade, the Race For This Place Fun Run, the Meagher County Volunteer Fire Department’s Fireworks, and the Freedom Days Street Dance, the recognition of the veterans at the forefront of the celebrations allows for great reflection on the anniversary of independence.
