Empowering Women and Preserving Skills
Red Ants Pants Foundation's Latest Initiatives.
The Red Ants Pants Foundation released the winners of their annual grants last week. The 14 grantees were awarded amounts ranging from $500 to $3,000 to support their projects, all intended to uphold the name and standards of the local Red Ants Pants Foundation. The grants, however, are just one of many programs offered by the Foundation to support agriculture, women, and rural Montana society. This weekend, the Red Ants Pants Foundation is hosting a unique Trailer Backing 101 session to support work skills for individuals from around the state. It is no secret that the Red Ants Pants Foundation is a strong advocate for women and girls interested in leadership, agriculture, and beyond. Through programs such as the Red Ants Pants Girls Leadership Program and the Women in Ag Retreat, the Foundation encourages ideals such as self-reflection, resilience, confidence, and work ethic. Alongside their clear moral values, the Red Ants Pants Foundation also strongly believes in the maintenance of traditional work skills in modern society. To preserve basic yet imperative work abilities, the Foundation hosts several small clinics throughout the year to teach and improve techniques in the arts of chainsaw use, carpentry, and trailer backing. This weekend, in White Sulphur Springs, the Red Ants Pants Foundation will be hosting Trailer Backing 101. The trailer backing course is designed to provide beginners with hands-on experience in various backing techniques. Over the course of four hours, the session covers basic equipment, hitching a trailer, and backing procedures for bumper pull trailers. This course is led by an all-woman instructor team and is intentionally designed for women to increase their skills in a controlled and supportive environment. Students must provide their own vehicle and trailer and have experience driving their vehicle and trailer to ensure safe travel to White Sulphur Springs. On June 29th, Trailer Backing 101 will commence at 12:30 p.m., with an additional session on Sunday, June 30th, at 9:00 a.m.This course is exclusively available to women aged 18 and older. The registration fee is $100 per participant, covering course materials, snacks, and professional guidance.
